For Hispanic Heritage Month, we learned about hojalata art! Hojalata (o-ha-LAH-tah) means tin in Spanish. People use the term hojalata art to refer to an artistic tradition that originated in Mexico. To make hojalata art, artists use special tools to cut and make indentations in thin pieces of tin. It’s difficult to make hojalata art, so at a special event, kids made their own, simplified version of the artwork by using aluminum foil.
