Upcoming July Programs

Take a break from the outdoors this summer and join the Livingston Public for these fun programs!  Here’s what you can look forward to attending during the month of July.

Lectures 

Home Food Preservation: Canning Basics | Wednesday, July 14 @ 11am 

Home canning in glass jars is a wonderful way to preserve produce, especially the summer harvest,  for shelf storage for later enjoyment. Learn how to safely can food in glass jars in this program that will  highlight 2 common canning  methods.

The Story of Opera Part 3: Verismo and Modern Opera 1890-2000 | Monday, July 19th @ 7pm

This lecture will be presented by composer, conductor and educator Dr. Robert W. Butts and will cover the period of Opera from 1890-2000.  It will include a talk combined with musical selections.

**These events are virtual and will take place through Zoom. Registration is required for these virtual events. Information on how to access the Zoom events will be emailed to registrants the day before the program is to take place.**

Crafts

Pinterest Inspired Adult Crafting: Clothespin Ladybugs | Monday, July 19 @ 11am

Join the Livingston Public Library as we make Clothespin Ladybugs! This craft can be completed one of two ways. Come join us in person at the library on Monday, July 19th at 11am for in person crafting!  Can’t make the in person event? No problem, we will email you a date (after the program) to pick up the supplies in order to complete the craft on your own time.

Adult Art Workshop: Wood Panel Painting | Monday, July 26 @ 7pm

Learn how to create a painted wood plaque using acrylic paint, shells, and beads with arts instructor Bernadine Ferrari.

**Registration is required for these in-person events. Participants are expected to follow all current CDC guidelines.**

Adult Volunteer Club

Livi Cares: Cards Against Isolation | Drop-in 7/1-7/31

Beginning July 1st through July 31st you’ll be able to stop by the Library to pick up supplies to create handwritten letters that will be sent to Seniors in need of a smile. Letters can be completed in person at the Library or at home.  Return your completed letters to the Reference Desk inside the Library, where they will be collected and sent to the organization. 

**Registration is not required for this in-person event. Participants are expected to follow all current CDC guidelines.**

Book Clubs

Bookish Vibes (Book Club and Author Visit With Sarah Blake) | Thursday, July 22 @ 7pm 

During this month’s book club we will be discussing books by historical novelist Sarah Blake, who will also be joining the meeting! Copies of Blake’s latest novel, The Guest Book, will be available for you to borrow from the Patron Services Desk. (Note: You are not required to read The Guest Book to join the discussion. Come ready to discuss any novel you’d like to written by Blake, or anything bookish. All are welcome!) 

**Registration is required for this virtual event. Information on how to access the Zoom event will be emailed to registrants the day before the program is to take place.**

Unstuck in Time | Tuesday, July 27th @ 7pm 

Unstuck in Time revisits classic speculative fiction. Join this monthly meeting for an awesome and engaging discussion of The Princess Bride by William Goldman!

**Registration is not required for this in-person event. Participants are expected to follow all current CDC guidelines.**

Senior Happening 

Dreamcatcher Presents “Heart Songs: A Video Cabaret” | Friday, July 16th @ 1pm

Register to enjoy a private pre-recorded YouTube video of Dreamcatcher Presents “Heart Strings: A Video Cabaret.” 

**Registration is required for this virtual event. A link to a pre-recorded YouTube video will be sent to registered attendees at 1pm on 7/16.**

Movies

Weekends With the Oscars | Saturday July 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st at 2pm

Beat the heat and join the Livingston Public Library for an Oscar winning movie showing!

**Registration is not required for this in-person event. Participants are expected to follow all current CDC guidelines.**
