Adult Services

Attention fellow readers and book lovers!*

Are you an avid reader looking to discuss novels by popular and trending authors with other readers?  If so, our Bookish Vibes book club is for you! Bookish Vibes meets monthly at 7pm via Zoom and is all about “vibing” with a great read.  Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 11th at 7pm, where we will be discussing  The Heirloom Garden by Viola Shipman.  The best part?  Viola Shipman will also be zooming into our discussion!

Viola Shipman is the pen name for Wade Rousse. Wade chose his grandmother’s name, Viola Shipman, to honor the family stories and heirlooms that have inspired his stories. Wade has written ten novels under the name Viola Shipman.

Copies of the novel will be available for you to borrow from the Patron Services Desk. You can register for our upcoming Bookish Vibes meeting, here.  The day before the event an email with information on how to access the Zoom meeting will be sent to you.

From the Publisher: Iris Maynard lost her husband in World War II, her daughter to illness and, finally, her reason to live. Walled off from the world for decades behind the towering fence surrounding her home, Iris has built anew family … of flowers. Iris propagates her own daylilies and roses while tending to a garden filled with the heirloom starts that keep the memories of her loved ones alive. When Abby Peterson moves next door with her family–a husband traumatized by his service in the Iraq War and a young daughter searching for stability–Iris is reluctantly yet inevitably drawn into her boisterous neighbor’s life, where, united by loss and a love of flowers, she and Abby tentatively unearth their secrets, and help each other discover how much life they have yet to live

Hope to see you there!
