For the first time in Livingston, two years ago, the month of January was declared Muslim Heritage Month in recognition of Livingston’s growing Muslim community and in celebration of the diversity that unites us all.

Muslims have made significant contributions throughout history, including notable achievements in philosophy, mathematics, chemistry, physics, astronomy, medicine, music, architecture, literature, and the arts. From groundbreaking advancements to timeless artistic traditions, their legacy enriches our shared understanding of the world and highlights how knowledge and creativity flourish through cultural exchange.

This display, arranged by the Muslim Student Association of Livingston High School, showcases stunning work from local artists and community members, including intricate calligraphy, vibrant pottery, Islamic geometric designs, exquisite jewelry, and more.  It highlights the accomplishments of Muslims across history and the ongoing impact of Muslim communities today.

By celebrating Muslim heritage, we honor not only the past but also the present and future, recognizing that unity is strengthened when diverse voices, traditions, and stories are valued and respected. Together, we can foster understanding, build bridges of appreciation, and celebrate the diversity that makes Livingston a stronger, more connected community.

Come visit and be inspired!

The display can be viewed during Library hours until January 20th.
