Message from the Director: Not All Heroes Wear Capes

Dear Livingston Library Community,

While Labor Day tends to bring to mind thoughts about the end of summer and worries about the school year, its true purpose is to honor the American labor movement and the contributions that its workers make to our country.

Throughout the year this column focuses on the many programs and services the Livingston Public Library has to offer.  This week, in the spirit of Labor Day, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the hardworking and dedicated staff without whom we would not be able to offer such an expansive range of resources to the residents of Livingston.

I am especially impressed by the efforts they make every summer to create a summer reading program that is fun and inspiring for our young people. And this summer was no exception. Whether it was making sure that every one of the 70 plus kids who attended a storytime had a special experience, or warmly welcoming over 300 attendees to a Thursday night family program, our staff was there smiling and ready to help.

It is a pleasure to be part of a team who works tirelessly to support the community, support the Library, and support each other. Their passion, insights, and opinions are what make our Library truly exceptional.

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity.- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Happy Labor Day!
All the best,
Amy
