NJ Makers Day 2022

Livingston Library Community,

The 8th annual NJ Makers Day falls on Saturday March 26th, and this year the Livingston Public Library has “maker” events for all ages planned all week long that everyone can look forward to!

Getting Crafty!

Beginning on Monday, March 21st, adults can drop-in to pick up supplies to create D.I.Y. Tote Bags and Decorative Keychains! These take-home crafting kits will be available while supplies last.

Adults will also be able to listen to a lecture on the beautiful artwork of Yayoi Kusama on Monday, March 21st. This lecture will take place as a hybrid program both in-person and on Zoom. Registration is required if attending on Zoom.

Children will also enjoy the following take-home crafts including: Thaumatropes for all ages and  Kirigami Water Blossoms for grades 4 & up on Wednesday, March 23rd, Watercolor Painting Kits for grades 4 & up on Thursday, March 24th and Squishy Circuits for grades 5 & up on Friday, March 25th!

Computers, Coding, and Science

On Tuesday, March 22nd our Codergals group for children grades 3-5 is meeting for the third session of their 4 part series.

On Thursday, March 24th, children in grades 4-5 will be able to learn about environmental engineering with Dr. Birthe Kjellerup and her students from the University of Maryland at Solution to Pollution

Families will look forward to joining us at the Library for Dragons: Return of the Ice Sorceress on Saturday, March 26th at 2pm. This fun and interactive show combines science and learning for a spectacular learning adventure!

Reading, Writing, and More!

Our young readers will also be enjoying themed storytimes on Wednesday, March 23rd. Children ages 2-5 are welcome to join our Little Listeners storytime at 10:30am and children grades K-1 are invited to register for our Little Bookworms storytime at 4pm. Adults who are aspiring writers will enjoy an in-person  lecture on Writing and Publishing on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7pm. Our youngest visitors aged 2 and under will enjoy a themed storytime on Thursday, March 24th at Nursery Rhyme Time

Grow Something Beautiful

Adults interested in expanding the foliage inside their garden will enjoy a hybrid workshop on Bloodroot, Bluebells, and Butterflies: Spring Beauties for Biodiversity on Wednesday, March 23rd at 11am. This event will take place both in-person and on Zoom. Registration is required if attending on Zoom.

Makers Day began in 2014, and is a day that inspires learning through maker culture and S.T.E.M. learning.  You can learn more about Makers Day here.

One Response

  1. The schools changed the half day schedule from March to April so I don’t know how many kids will be available for the Environmental Engineering class on 3/24 at 2pm. Can the class be later that day or moved to 4/12-14? Thanks!
