National Library Week

National Library Week

April 7-13 is National Library Week.  National Library Week is celebrated once a week to show and celebrate the appreciation for libraries and the roles they play within the community. The first National Library Week was celebrated in 1958 with the theme how do you“Wake up and Read!” This year’s theme is “Libraries = Strong Communities.”  You can read more about National Library Week via the American Library Association’s web page here.

So what are some ways that you can celebrate National Library Week?

  1. Visit your library! Stop into the Livingston Public Library, check out a book, attend a program, or use one of the many resources the library offers!
  2. Share your library story #MyLibraryStory.  Why is the library important to you? Do you have a special library story?
  3. Share your support for libraries via social media with #NationalLibraryWeek  or #LibrariesTransform.
