Movie of the Month: ASTEROID CITY

This month, enjoy Wes Anderson’s ASTEROID CTY on the big screen in our program room! Screenings will be Tuesday, October 10 at 6:30 PM, and Thursday, October 12 at 2 PM.

In an American desert town in the mid-fifties, the Junior Stargazer Convention attracts stargazers of different ages. A group of students and their parents visit the town to attend the event. What follows is an unexpected exchange of ideas and experiences that lead to eye-opening revelations.

David Sims of The Atlantic wrote that the film “pairs [Wes Anderson’s] inimitable visual elegance with an impassioned argument about the power of storytelling. And it’s a reminder that Anderson remains one of cinema’s best.” And Glen Kenny of RogerEbert.com raved that Asteroid City’s “emotional impact is substantial. Imagine a gorgeous butterfly landing on your heart and then squeezing on that heart with sharp pincers you never knew it had.”

This screening is free and open to all, with no registration required.

The film is rated PG-13, and runs 1 hour, 45 minutes. It will be screened with English subtitles for the hard of hearing.

Free popcorn will be served (while supplies last).

Doors will open 30 minutes before showtime.
