Message From The Director: The LHS Jazz Band @ Senior Happening

“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.” – Roy Ayers

One of my favorite things about the Library is the many ways it brings our community together.  That’s why I am overjoyed to announce that the Livingston High School Jazz Band, under the direction of James Hegedus, will make its 18th annual appearance at the Livingston Library’s Senior Happening on May 24th.  Each spring, attendees bridge the generational gap and enjoy seeing the best and brightest young musicians perform.  It’s always a program to remember!

The Senior Happening is a monthly series that allows attendees (“Seniors” or otherwise) to socialize during the first part of the program (12:00 until 12:45 PM) by bringing a bag lunch, while enjoying desserts and coffee served by the Friends of the Livingston Library volunteers.  At 1:00 PM, the entertainment begins!  Afterwards, at 3:00 PM, Teen Tech Tutors from Livingston High School visit the Library to help Seniors with any tech questions they may have.

Senior Happening is made possible by the Friends of the Livingston Library and by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and administered by the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.  We thank them for this wonderful funding opportunity.

Registration is required and may be done in person at the library;  by telephone at (973) 992-4600;  or online through our calendar.  Don’t miss out, register today!
