Livingston Library Community,

One of the many wonderful things about the public library is the ability to connect readers with the authors that pen the pages of the novels that line our library’s shelves.  If you have visited the Livingston Public Library recently, you may have noticed the Library’s newer “indie collection,” composed of both local and small press authors. 

If you’ve become a fan of this new collection, or if you are interested in pursuing indie publication yourself, we have some exciting news! Author Jeannie Zokan will be joining us virtually on Zoom Thursday, September 30th at 7pm for a Meet the Author Event.  Jeannie will be discussing her novels “The Existence of Pity” (2016) and “Courage Without Grace” (2021), published with Red Adept Publishing, as well as the writing process and pursement of indie publication. 

Zokan grew up in Colombia, South America, where she went on to pursue a degree in Library and Information Science from Baylor University and then continued her education at George Washington University. Both The Existence of Pity and Courage Without Grace use bits and pieces of Zokan’s own life observances, where The Existence of Pity is set in Colombia during the 1970s and where Courage Without Grace is set in Washington D.C.  during the 1980s. Zokan’s novels have been praised for their ability to draw readers in and immerse them inside the fictionalized world crafted through her prose. You can borrow these novels, and more from the Library’s indie collection located just past the large print collection in the adult seating area. 

This virtual event is open to all, but registration is required.  Registration can be done through the Library’s event calendar, here. An email with information on how to access the Zoom event will be sent the day before the program is to take place.
