“Telling stories is one of the greatest powers that we possess. It’s like a dream you can fill with what you want.” – Patti Callahan Henry, “The Secret Book of Flora Lea”

Livingston Library Community,

At the Livingston Public Library we love connecting readers with not only the books they love, but also with the authors behind these stories. That’s why we are excited to invite you to our Bookish Vibes Book Club on Wednesday, June 4th at 7pm, where Patti Callahan Henry will be joining us to discuss her novel The Secret Book of Flora Lea

The Secret Book of Flora Lea, tells the story of two sisters, Flora and Hazel, who in 1939 were evacuated from London to the English countryside to escape the war. To comfort her sister, Hazel creates the story of “Whisperwood,” an imaginary and secret world that only the two of them know. One day, tragedy strikes, and Flora is believed to have drowned near the River Thames. Decades later in the 1960s, Hazel is working in a rare bookshop where she comes across a copy of “Whisperwood.” This ignites hope that Flora may still be alive, as Hazel sets out to uncover the truth of who wrote “Whisperwood” and the truth behind what happened to her sister.

You can learn more about this event and register on the Library’s event calendar. Bookish Vibes takes place virtually on Zoom. Information on how to access the Zoom meeting will be sent the day before the event is to take place. You can also register for our July meeting, where Kristina McMorris will be joining us on Wednesday, July 23rd at 7pm  to discuss her novel Sold on a Monday

We hope to see you at Bookish Vibes!

All the best,

Amy Babcock, Director
