Message From the Director: Fall Youth Lineup!

Livingston Library Community,

Crisp fall breezes, amber and gold leaves, and fresh picked apples are upon us.  Yes, it is finally fall! This fall we have some wonderful youth services programs planned that your little ones and teens can look forward to.

Beginning in September, babies ages 23 months and under, along with their caregivers, are invited to  Baby Open Play in the Youth Department. Our Thursday morning sessions begin at 10:30am and run through December 16th. All sessions are drop-in, registration is not required.

The entire family is invited to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival  as we welcome the International Chungang Dance Culture Research Institute and their performance of the traditional Korean Fan Dance, Buchae choom, on Saturday, September 18th at 2:00 PM. You don’t want to miss this colorful & unique dance experience!

Little ones ages 12-24 months can enjoy the library’s Play & Learn hour.  On Tuesday, September 21st at 10:30am, drop into the library for a fun filled hour where toddlers and caregivers can play together!

Children in kindergarten through first grade will enjoy the Library’s weekly Little Bookworms storytime group.  Here, children can enjoy themed stories and crafts.  Little Bookworms meets at 4pm beginning on Wednesday, September 22nd.

Older readers will enjoy the Library’s monthly Yakety Yak book club for grades 2-3 and X-treme Readers book club for grades 4-5. Children will enjoy discussing the chosen book of the month with other readers!

Children in grades 5 and up will also enjoy our Make and Take Light-up Halloween Card Craft from October 12th – October 17th.  Supplies to create this craft will be available in the Youth Services Department on a first come, first serve basis.

A Back to School Bullet Journal Workshop is offered for kids in grades 5-8. Participants will create their own journals and learn bullet journaling basics to help them get organized just in time for the new school year!

Families are also invited to join us for a night of Kahoot Trivia fun on Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00pm! Register yourself or your family beginning on September 8th.

Teens entering grades 9-12 can volunteer to be on the Teen Advisory Board. The group meets once a month to share ideas and plan events for teens and tweens. Registration opens today!

Kids in grades 5 and up can Sew a Cactus Plushie on Tuesday, September 14th at 4:30 PM. Hand sew a cute, fun plant that you will never have to water!

Teens will look forward to attending an in-person SAT Practice Test in the library on Saturday, September 25th at 1pm. This is a great opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to practice for the SATs.  Students will also learn how they can use their Livingston Library card to access for test prep and homework help!

And last but not least, on your next visit stop by the Youth Services Desk to pick up a take home craft this Fall. They are offered about every other week and are available while supplies last.

We are so happy to welcome our young patrons into the library this fall for these wonderful events. Be sure to visit our events calendar to see a full listing of programs and to register.  We are continuously grateful to the Friends of the Livingston Library whose support makes all of this possible.

We can’t wait to see you this fall!
