Are you looking to unearth a gem of an event to dazzle your afternoon? We invite you to join us on Wednesday, December 4th at 2 pm for the virtual talk Unearthed: Exploring the Smithsonian National Gem Collection with Dr. Jeffrey Post.
As curator of the Smithsonian’s National Gem Collection, Dr. Post will discuss the Smithsonian’s book Unearthed, which explores the scandals, mysteries, and human stories behind the world’s greatest gems. Dr. Post will also share some of the stories behind the Smithsonian’s most famous gems, such as the Hope Diamond, Star of Asia Sapphire, Carmen Lucia Ruby, Hooker Emerald, and Blue Heart Diamond. He will present the tales, details, and fascinating facts surrounding rarely displayed gems from the Smithsonian vault, as well as recent additions made to the collection.
