As this year marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, here at the Library we’re continuing to offer programs that inspire us to reflect on America’s rich history, and to strengthen the bonds that unite us as a nation. We’re especially thrilled to be hosting tomorrow night’s lecture, “New Jersey and the American Revolution,” which will discuss the crucial role that our great state played in the fight for our country’s freedom.

Starting at 7pm, award-winning author and historian Brian Armstrong will provide a comprehensive overview of why New Jersey is known as the “Crossroads of the American Revolution,” while bringing to life the people, places, and key moments that made New Jersey central to the birth of our country. Stories of notable patriots, soldiers, and leaders will be told alongside those of ordinary citizens whose lives were forever changed by the war. Pivotal battles and landmark events will also be explored in detail, including Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River, the Battles of Trenton and Princeton, and other significant encounters that turned the tide of the Revolution.
