Message from the Director: Explore Livingston’s History with LtownRadio

amy intro graphic

Livingston Library Community,

Livingston has a rich and fascinating history, which can be discovered not only through the buildings which house historical plaques, but also through the stories our community members share which are passed down for generations.

This month we took a dive into our town’s history for our March LtownRadio Podcast episode. During this episode, the Library interviewed Mark Moran, the founder and editor of Weird NJ, about growing up in Livingston, his exploration of the town, and more. You can listen to this month’s episode on all podcast streaming services including SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

If you are interested in exploring more Livingston history, the library has recently digitized oral history recordings which were previously on casette in the Local History Room. These recordings contain interviews with active members in town such as Edith DeCamp, Julius Bernstein, Captain Ernie Alinger, and more. You can access these recordings through the Library’s digital Local History Archive, here

Those interested in exploring the physical local history collection are also welcome to do so. Researchers may book an appointment for access to the Local History Room through the Library’s website. Library staff will be available to assist with your research request.

Best,

Amy Babcock, Director
