Message From The Director: Every Child is an Artist

“Look around. Look at what we have.  Beauty is everywhere — you only have to look to see it.”   ~ Bob Ross

At the Livingston Public Library, we value the schools and students within our community.  That’s why we are so happy to be working in collaboration with Livingston Schools’ Visual Arts Program to showcase beautiful artwork created by elementary and middle school students.  A rotating collection, created under the guidance of their art teachers, will be on exhibit in the Library’s Program Room during the months of March, April and May.

This month, the Library showcase features a variety of art works created by students from Riker Hill, Hillside, Collins, and Mount Pleasant Elementary Schools in an array of mediums.  Artworks featured include: Gustav Klimt inspired magical trees, 3rd grade bottle fish inspired by the glass blowers of Murano Island, 4th grade symmetrical masks, 5th grade metal repousse and Mexican inspired weavings.  Gifted and Talented art students “clay-inspiration” pieces are also being shown.

I encourage you to visit the Library and see these wonderful pieces of artwork. I am sure you will be inspired by the talent and creativity of our young artists.
