Your health matters! And with more than 1.6 million new cases in the United States every year, many of us have either been personally affected or had a loved one affected by cancer. Here at the library we believe that the more information you have about a problem the better equipped you are to face it. That’s why I am so excited to announce our partnership with the Center for Asian Health (CAH) at the St Barnabas Medical Center and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ (CINJ) to bring to you a series of Cancer Education Programs: 

Three programs are included in this virtual Cancer Education series: 

Cancer and Genetics | January 22 @ 11 AM
This lecture will explain hereditary and lifestyle risk factors for cancer. You’ll learn how and why cancer forms in cells, as well as methods to identify your personal cancer risk and best practices for reducing or managing personal cancer risk.

Eating Healthy for Cancer Prevention | February 24 @11 AM
In this lecture you will learn how to portion your plate with cancer-fighting foods, as well as discover the different food groups that can promote your health. 

Nutrition for Colorectal Health and Cancer Prevention | March 24 @11 AM
In this final lecture, you will learn about foods that can help to maintain good colorectal health and act to prevent cancer. Also learn about current cancer screening guidelines for colorectal health.

These programs will take place through Zoom and registration is required.  You may register at the Library’s event calendar. An email with information on how to access the Zoom event will be sent the day before the program.
