Join us this June as we celebrate Pride Month at the Livingston Public Library! 

Beginning on May 28th, children can stop by the Youth Services Desk for a Take Home Pride Month Craft. Crafting kits will be available while supplies last. Children of all ages and abilities and their families are invited to join us on Wednesday, June 5th at 4pm for Pride Storytime where we will share books about families of all kinds. 

Children in grades K through 5 are invited to attend our Makers of History event where we will engage in STEM activities inspired by famous historical figures.  For Pride Month, we will learn about Alan Turing, who was a code breaker and mathematician.

Adults can look forward to their own Pride Month Craft on Monday, June 10th at 11am, where we will make decorative rainbow mugs! You can register for this adult craft here.  Adults are also welcome to join us on Monday, June 17th at 7pm for the lecture Gay Pride: More Than a Parade. This lecture follows the history of the 1969 Stonewall Riots which ignited the gay rights movement to today’s joyous celebration of international traditions and parades. Registration is not required for this event and all are welcome to attend. 

Are you attending Shiv’s Third Eye’s annual  Pride Picnic on the Livingston Oval? This year’s picnic will take place on Sunday, June 2nd at 12pm, with the town flag raising ceremony scheduled to begin at 4:15pm, This year’s theme is  “We Are a Rainbow of Colors.” Keep an eye out for the Library’s table, where library staff will be handing out some fun giveaways! 

All month long we will also have book displays and book lists in celebration of Pride Month throughout the Library. Visit our blog during the month June for book lists and resources for all ages.
