Message From the Director: Celebrate Old Glory

“‘Your country’s flag behold! ‘ and through his tear-dimmed eyes, he saw the stars and stripes unfold.” –Betsy Ross

Livingston Library Community,

Two hundred and forty-four years ago, the Flag of the United States was adopted by the Second Continental Congress. In honor of this momentous occasion for our country, Flag Day is celebrated annually on June 14th.  This flag day, the Livingston Public Library invites you to join us on Zoom at 7pm for a presentation on Old Glory: History of the American Flag

In this presentation author, photographer, and lecturer Kevin Woyce will be taking us on an exploration of American history through original vintage photographs and patriotic music as we discover the story behind our American Flag. From the Flag’s origin during the American Revolution, to the addition of the Flag’s 50th star, and even the poem behind the Star Spangled Banner, this lecture will have you giving “three cheers for the red white and blue!”

This lecture is virtual and will take place through Zoom.  All are welcome to attend, but registration is required and can be done so through the Library’s event calendar, here.  Information on how to access the Zoom event will be emailed to you the day before the program is to take place.

If you’re interested in learning more about America’s Flag consider borrowing:
