It’s finally May!  It’s warm out, it stays lighter out longer, and it’s almost summer!  Do you know what that means!? Summer-esc authors are beginning to come out with new warm weather reads.  If that doesn’t get you smiling, I don’t know what will. So today, we’d like to ask you, library reader, what books are YOU most excited for this spring/summer?

Here’s a few beach reads coming this season that have this librarian excited:

Summer of ‘69 by Elin Hilderbrand: Elin Hilderbrand is the Queen of the Nantucket Beach Read.  In her latest novel, it is the year 1969. That’s the year of Elvis Presley, the year we landed on the moon, and the beginning of the  War in Vietnam. In this novel, Hilderbrand explores the lives of four siblings during the summer where everything changes. This novel is to be published in June.

Sunset Beach by Mary K. Andrews: A decades old murder case, her mother’s funeral, and a beach bungalow are the premise of Andrews’ latest novel.  This one actually was published on May 7, so come down to the library to check it out!

Surfside Sisters by Nancy Thayer: Okay, so it might be argued that both Elin Hilderbrand and Nancy Thayer claim the crown to the Queen of the Nantucket Beach Read.  Thayer’s latest novel tells the story of Keely Green who left Nantucket to become a writer in NYC. Keely knows her long time surgeon boyfriend isn’t the one, but she doesn’t break it off with him until he makes it known that he wants to get married, then her editor rejects her latest novel and she decides to go home.  This novel is to be published in July.
