We celebrated many meaningful observances at the Library in May, starting with Finding Calm: Practical Tools for Managing Stress and Anxiety for Mental Health Awareness Month, a lecture on Leonard Bernstein: On (and Off) Broadway for Jewish American Heritage Month, and a workshop on Chinese calligraphy, Discover Chinese Brush Art: Calligraphy and Painting Workshop for AANHPI Heritage Month. We also held a workshop on Signs & Symptoms of Stroke: How BEFAST Can Save Lives for Stroke Awareness month.
We continued our series of talks on America 250 with Artists’ Eyes on the American Revolution: Gilbert Stuart, Portraitist of the Founding Fathers, Artists’ Eyes on the American Revolution: John Trumbull’s Paintings of U.S. History, and New Jersey and the American Revolution: 1775–1781.
Our virtual author talks with the Library Speakers Consortium this month featured On Courage, Turmoil, and the Transformative Power of Love with Marjan Kamali, How to Robot-Proof Your Kids (and Yourself) with Dr. Vivienne Ming, and Reshape Your Beliefs and Unlock Your True Potential with Nir Eyal.
Our Senior Happening for this month featured Stephen Fuller who performed Expressions of the Heart. We also hosted a Music Matters concert which featured Yang Jin with the Flying Strings Youth Ensemble. Our ever-popular movies series this month featured our Saturday Matinee Marty Supreme, and Thursday Matinee and Tuesday Night Movie screenings of Sentimental Value.
