Learning Comes to Life in Youth Services

Some of you have already had a chance to try out our new Orboot augmented reality globe this past month in the Children’s Department, and your excitement was overwhelming! We are very happy to announce that the full collection of Orboot globes is now ready for you to explore at the Livingston Public Library.

Take a trip around the planet from the comfort of the library with Orboot Earth! Explore cultures and traditions in different countries around the world, find out amazing facts about animals on land and sea, and play games and quizzes to test what you’ve learned.

Explore the land before time with Orboot Dinos! See and hear your favorite dinosaurs roar to life, find out how they lived and what they liked to eat, and use augmented reality to see them standing in the library at your very feet.

Launch your own interstellar mission with Orboot Mars! Learn facts about the different Mars missions, landers, and rovers throughout the last 60 years, explore the dusty red landscape with its many unique features, and challenge yourself as the commander of a Martian rescue mission. (We recommend Orboot Mars for space-lovers in grades 3 and above, as the facts can be a bit more complex than the other two globes.)

Stop by the Children’s Desk to try out one (or all) of these fun new additions! You can either download the Orboot apps onto your own smart device, or ask to borrow the library’s iPad to play. Make yourself comfy at one of our tables, and let learning come to life!

Happy Exploring!

-Melanie Bruchet, Youth Services Librarian
