January 2026 Adult Programming Wrap Up

January 2026 Adult Programming Wrap Up

We started the new year off with engaging programs for all interests.

Those looking to make their own bread enjoyed the in-person workshop Getting Started with Sourdough. Aspiring chefs also enjoyed the virtual lecture Stirring Up History: The Cookbooks That Shaped America’s Kitchen and the virtual cooking demonstrations Knife Skills, Let’s Make Butternut Squash Soup, and New Year Detox Reset with Library Chef. Adults also enjoyed participating in our take home Spice it Up kit, where they received rosemary.

We explored our creative side this month with creative arts events such as Bad Art Night, Mandala Magic, Eco Crafting, and Crafternoon

Our Let’s Talk About Books book club met this month to discuss “Sea Stories: My Life in Special Operations” by William McRaven.

Those looking to learn more about their future retirement enjoyed the lecture Secure Your Retirement and Understand Annuities, while those looking to learn about musical history enjoyed the lecture The Creative Flowering of Brian Wilson and Scoring the Movies: A History of Film Music. Adults also enjoyed the virtual lecture Ernest Shackleton and the Age of Antarctic Exploration.

Those looking for an evening of fun enjoyed the interactive program Can You Outsmart a Riddle?

We also hosted film screenings in the Library’s program room including our Tuesday Night Movie, Thursday Matinee, and Saturday Matinee showings.

We enjoyed virtual author talks with the Library Speakers Consortium including Secrets and Second Chances with Liz Moore and Nature, Art, and Service as Medicine with Journalist Julia Hotz.

We focused on our bodies and minds this new year with the program Create Your Personal Theme: Set Your Intention, Shape Your Year. We also got active with a Total Body Mat Pilates Sculpt for Adults. Adults enjoyed the health lecture Beyond the Scale: Approaches to Weight Management.

Our seniors enjoyed the January Senior Happening performance “From Baroque to Broadway” with Robert Butts. Following Senior Happening, seniors received technology assistance with teen tutors through our Community Tech Helpers program. Those looking for more technology assistance also joined us for the tech class Get to Know Your Gift, focusing on tablets, smartphones, and e-reader devices.

Visit our events calendar to see all the wonderful events we have planned for February.
