January brought us the start of a new year and new programming to the Livingston Public Library! Below is a recap of what wonderful events for adults took place at the Library this month.
Brought back by popular demand, we enjoyed another session of the Library’s Murder Mystery event in the program room. Adults enjoyed dressing up and solving a crime.
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day, adults enjoyed the lecture Voices of Change: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. Adults also enjoyed the inspiring talk Miracle Child: The Story of a Holocaust Survivor in Her Own Words for Holocaust Remembrance Day. Other lectures life-long learners enjoyed included Dishing Out the Dirt of White House Gardens and Growing Unique Plants in Your Home.
Those looking to explore ways to improve their health joined us for the lecture The “Tooth” About Teeth Cleaning and Other Oral Health Matters in partnership with RWJ Barnabas. We also learned important information during the workshop Get to Know Medicare. Those looking to improve their health also joined us for our monthly all-levels Adult Yoga Workshop.
Seniors enjoyed the kickoff of our 2025 Senior Happening program with Stephen Fuller’s performance of “The Crooners.”
Those looking to explore their creative sides joined us for our librarian-led Crafterwork and Crafternoon, as well as our instructor-led Adult Art Workshop: Relief Carving.
Our book clubs all met for the first time of the new year. We enjoyed our Bookish Vibes book club which included an author visit with Karen White, our Let’s Talk About Books book club, Thrilling Tales, Crime Time, and Cookbook Club.
Those looking to enjoy a film in the Library program room joined us for our Tuesday Night Movie screening of “Saturday Night,” and our Thursday and Saturday Matinee screenings of “Conclave.”
We also engaged in some friendly competition with an afternoon Bingo session!
Those looking to cook up something new joined us for virtual cooking demonstrations with Library Chef, including Classic Minestrone Soup and Let’s Talk About Broths.
We also enjoyed lively virtual author talks with the Library Speakers Consortium including The Magic of Found Family: In Conversation with Author TJ Klune, Notes on Modern Irrationality with Bestselling Author Amanda Montell, and An Inside Look at Working with a Literary Agent: A Conversation with Seth Fishman.
