Here Comes The Bride: Origins of Wedding Customs and Traditions

Modern weddings are a time for celebrating love, and traditions like white dresses, tiered cakes, rings and toasts are expected by modern wedding attendees and diligently followed by most modern couples. However, some of these traditions have surprising and sometimes ancient origins, reflecting changing attitudes toward marriage.

Join Hilary May,  an educator from the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts in exploring a variety of wedding customs. The talk can be viewed on the Library’s YouTube channel:
