Friends: Book Donations
How to Donate
Friends welcomes the donation of gently used books (fiction, non-fiction, children’s), games, complete puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and audio books on CD, and vintage ephemera all year round.
We will decline the following donations:
- Encyclopedias
- Textbooks college level and above older than 3 years Items should be in saleable condition
- Textbooks below college level
- VHS tapes
- Cassettes
- Magazines
- Books in poor, non-saleable condition
The Friends are not able to sell, re-donate, or re-direct certain materials.
Donations may be left at the Friends Donation Material Drop any time the Library is open. DO NOT deposit donations in the Library’s Book Return bins.
For donations of more than 30 items, or, if assistance is needed for drop-off, contact Friends at 973-992-4600 x505 in advance to make arrangements based on the availability of volunteers and/or staff.
A tax receipt is available from the main desk.
We are unable to accept and respectfully request that you arrange for the private disposal of items that are not suitable to donate. Disposing of these items increases our recycling costs, and absorbs limited volunteer time. If you have questions about this policy, please contact Friends at 973-994-4600 x505 or email at friends_livlibrary@verizon.net.
