February 2025 Program Wrap Up

February 2025 Program Wrap Up

This February we enjoyed entertaining, informative, and creative programming for adults! Below is a recap of what wonderful events for adults took place at the Livingston Library this month.

Those looking to enjoy a lecture joined us for Sports Shots: An Evening with a Famed Sports Photographer and Affairs of State: Love and Romance in the Lives of U.S. Presidents

February also marks Black History Month. To celebrate Black History Month, adults enjoyed the lecture Art by African Americans: From the Protests of the ‘60s to the Age of Black Lives Matter and the art workshop Black History Month Postcard Collages. We also enjoyed the virtual author visit I Am Nobody’s Slave: An Author Talk with Pulitzer Prize Finalist Lee Hawkins with the Library Speakers Consortium.

Those looking to connect with more authors this month also joined us for the virtual author talks How We Create Pandemics, From Our Bodies to Our Beliefs with Smithsonian Curator Sabrina Sholts and Dystopian Tropes from an Indigenous Perspective: In Conversation with Waubgeshig Rice

We explored our health with the health lecture Out of Breath: COPD, Asthma, Pneumonia, and other Respiratory Illnesses in partnership with RWJ Barnabas. We also explored healthy cooking through Library Chef with the virtual cooking demonstrations Heart Healthy Cooking Techniques, Mediterranean Pan-Seared Salmon, and Good Fats, Bad Fats: Uncover the Truth About Fats. Those looking for an active approach to staying healthy enjoyed our monthly Adult Yoga Workshop in the Library’s program room.

Those looking to explore their creative sides joined us for our monthly librarian-led Crafterwork and Crafternoon art workshops. We also enjoyed a special Chocolate-Making Workshop in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

We also enjoyed our monthly book clubs including Bookish Vibes book club and author visit with Kate White, Thrilling Tales, Crime Time, and Let’s Talk About Books.

We also watched new films this month in the Library’s program room: Wicked (Saturday Matinee), Small Things Like These (Sunday Matinee) , and  A Real Pain (Tuesday Night Movie / Thursday Matinee)

Seniors enjoyed a special February Senior Happening where Jane Stuart presented “Hooray for Love” featuring love songs perfect for the month of February.

Those looking to enjoy friendly competition joined us for a Bingo Night!

We also launched our new Saturday morning The Pop-up: Social Hour, where attendees gathered for snacks, refreshments, and the chance to meet new friends.

Visit our event calendar to save the date for all of the wonderful events planned for March. We hope to see you at the Library soon!
