Dorothea Benton Frank

There was another notable death in the literary world this month..

Dorothea Benton Frank, best selling American novelist, with novels set along the South Carolina coast and depicting strong women, died September 2nd at the age of 67.

She was a nationally recognized volunteer fundraiser for the arts and education, and an advocate of literacy programs and women’s issues.

Dorothea had homes in Montclair, New Jersey, and Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, part of Charleston County. You can read her obituary via the NY Times here.
