Color Your Stress Away 2019 Summer Session

Color Your Stress Away 2019 Summer Session

The Livingston Public Library has announced dates for the summer session of Color Your Stress Away, the adult drop in coloring program where library patrons can come in for an hour of relaxed enjoyment and simple creativity.

Over the past few years, adult coloring has grown tremendously in popularity across the country, coloring books are huge bestsellers, and coloring clubs have mushroomed around communities.

Studies show that coloring has a calming effect on mood, improving energy levels and even on how well we sleep.  The American Library Association praises these programs as a way to create community, encourage creativity, and allow for a safe and relaxing way for adults to socialize.

Coloring is no more an activity enjoyed just by children; adults too have rediscovered the simple joy and de-stressing focus that this activity enables. Participants select a coloring page or two from the Library’s collection of coloring books, and put color to paper using the markers and pencils provided, as calming music plays in the background.

These drop in sessions are being offered on Monday nights from 7-8pm and on Thursday mornings from 11am-12pm.

The Monday dates are July 8, 22 and August 5 and 12

The Thursday dates are  July 11, 25, and August 1, 8

Take a break this summer and try out the joyful world of adult coloring.

Simply bring your inner artist and a friend along and you may be surprised by how much you like it!

Can’t make it to any of the coloring sessions, but still want to participate? Check out our new take-home coloring kits from the Library of Things – it includes color pencils, markers and coloring books. Perfect for coloring by yourself or with friends! Inquire about the kit at the Patron Services Desk.
