Bookish Thoughts: Throwback Reads

It’s Throwback Thursday! Is there any other day that’s better to reminisce about popular reads that we enjoyed so many years ago? Today I’d like to ask you, Livingston Library readers, what’s a title from the past that had great hype, that you read and loved, and that you haven’t thought about for quite a while?

I think one of my favorite throwback reads is the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.  I read the first installment back when I was in high school, right before it elevated to movie stardom and significant popularity. I remember binge reading the rest of the series over the span of a few days when I had my wisdom teeth removed.  I couldn’t get enough, and even my grandma ended up reading and enjoying them as well.  Now, Meyer has a new novel out, taking us back into the world of Twilight but from a different perspective. Midnight Sun, tells the story through the eyes of Edward, the vampire character.  I haven’t read it yet, but it’s definitely on my to-read list.

Here’s some favorite throwbacks of staff from the Livingston Public Library:

Katie, Head of Adult Services & Acquisitions: Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis!

Archana, Adult Services & Acquisitions Librarian: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

Joe, Adult Services & Acquisitions Librarian: A tie between Voltaire’s Candide, and Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift

Happy Reading!

-Jessica, Adult Services & Acquisitions Librarian
