This August we enjoyed some wonderful summer programming. Here is a brief recap of what events took place at the Livingston Public Library this month.
This month we completed our 2025 Adult Summer Reading program, where this year’s theme was Color Our World. Adults read books, attended events, and completed activities to earn raffle tickets towards weekly prize drawings.
Adults joined us for a weekend Pop-up Social Hour, where we enjoyed morning refreshments, played games, and made new friends!
Those looking to improve their health joined us for an all-levels Adult Yoga Workshop in the Library’s program room.
We love to hear the stories behind our favorite stories. This month, readers joined us for the following virtual author talks: The Stories, Science, and History of Birds with Smithsonian Biologist Jay Falk and How to Thrive in a World of Constant Chaos with Organizational Psychologist Dr. Tasha Eurich. We also hosted the in-person author visit Selling Baseball: A Book Talk with Author Jeffrey Orens.
Readers also enjoyed our Thrilling Tales Book Club where we read and discussed “Magpie Murders” by Anthony Horowitz.
Those looking to learn more about the Library’s ebook collection joined us for the tech class Library in Your Pocket: Discovering eBooks and Audiobooks on Your Device.
Aspiring Chefs enjoyed virtual cooking workshops with Library Chef! This month’s courses included Spread the Love: Making Homemade Spreads and Condiments, 5 Simple Ways to Chicken Salad, and Coconut Caramel Breakfast Bars.
We got creative this month with creative arts workshops such as Adult Paint Night: “Rusty” the Bumble Bee, Threaded Wings: A String Art Project, and Crafternoon. Those looking to give back to the community joined us for our Livi Cares workshops where we made pet blankets which were donated to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and greeting cards which were sent to the organization Operation Gratitude.
Those looking for a relaxing evening filled with musical entertainment joined us for a Music Matters concert where Workingman’s Jed performed.
This month we also enjoyed screenings of popular films in the Library’s program room, with our Saturday Matinee (Thunderbolts), Tuesday Night Movie (Sinners), and Thursday Matinee (Rule Breakers).
