We concluded the summer season with some wonderful programs for adults this August! Below is a recap of what events our adults enjoyed this month.
August marked the end of our 2024 Adult Summer Reading program. During this program adults earned raffle tickets for every adult item checked out to be used towards weekly prize drawings. Adults also completed activities in their Summer Reading Passport to earn additional raffle tickets. To celebrate the conclusion of summer reading, we hosted Endless Summer Shells and Stories where participants made a seashell craft, and discussed their summer reads over light refreshments.
We also enjoyed our Livi Cares Adult Volunteer Club this summer with two programs that gave back: knitting for the organization Knit a Square and cardmaking for the organization Send a Smile Today.
Adults enjoyed two instructor-led creative arts workshops this month including: Paint a Bird or Bloom Ceramic, where they painted ceramics which were then glazed and Make Alcohol Ink Pendant Jewelry, where they made beautiful creations which were then able to be worn home.
We also enjoyed many lifelong learning lectures this month including: Lightning the Way: A History of NJ Lighthouses, A History of Greenwich Village, and Relaxed Seasonal Dining: An American Take on the French Art of the Apero Dinatoire.

The Golden Ticket to College Admissions Is Not What You Think: Redefining Success for Parents of Teens with Irena Smith, PhD with the Library Speaker’s Consortium.
We also enjoyed our book clubs! This month we hosted our Bookish Vibes: Book Club and Author Visit with Heather Gudenkauf and in-person Thrilling Tales book club.
Those looking to enjoy some friendly competition joined us for our afternoon and evening sessions of Summer Bingo.
We also beat the heat by watching popular films in the library’s program room. This month movie aficionados attended Saturday Matinee: The Fall Guy, Tuesday Night Movie: Challengers, and Thursday Matinee: The Taste of Things.
