April was a month full of wonderful adult programming! Here’s a recap of what happened during this month.
We enjoyed learning about various styles of art this month with two art inspired lectures. In Introduction to Madhubani Folk Painting from India, Nupur Nishith, a USA based artist showed us this beautiful style of painting. Later in the month, we explored the New York Historical Society’s collection of Tiffany lamps during a presentation entitled A New Light on Tiffany.
We also got crafty with our monthly Pinterest Inspired Craft: Mini Magnet Chalkboards. We had so much fun making these upcycled creations.
We celebrated Earth Day all month long with sustainable eco-friendly programs, as well as gardening programs! We enjoyed Be a Friend to the Earth: Reduce Food Waste at Home! in collaboration with The Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS), a part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. We also enjoyed Sustainable Living: It’s Easier Than You Think! presented by Dr. Amy Rowe, also part of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension.
Master Gardener Mary Jo Sichak took us on an exploration of Garden Gems of the Garden State, where we discovered numerous places of hidden beauty right in our very own backyards! We also discovered how to utilize beautiful flowers of dark and black hues within our own gardens during Drama Queens: Dark Beauties for Your Gardens presented by Lesley Parness. We then learned how we can arrange fresh cut flowers into gorgeous arrangements during a lecture of Spring Fling Florals, presented by Betsy Karetnick.
Those who took part in personal spring cleaning, and are now wondering what to do with the stuff they longer want or need, enjoyed the practical lecture Selling on Ebay presented by Rick Feingold.
Seniors enjoyed our virtual Senior Happening, with an upbeat performance of “The Music of Lionel Richie,” performed by Stephen Fuller. It was a toe-tapping good time!
Aspiring writers put their pen to paper during our Livi Writes: Journaling Workshop presented by local Livingston writer, Hope Atlas. Atlas explained the journaling process, followed by writing prompts and a free-write session.
We got bookish this month during a Meet the Author event with historical novelist Danielle Martin. Martin discussed her latest novel, Glimmer As You Can, followed by a Q&A session. We also enjoyed our monthly book clubs including Bookish Vibes (with an author visit by Barbara Delinsky), Unstuck in Time, and Let’s Talk About Books.
